“I feel comfortable starting this business because I know that I have Bookminders behind me.  As I hire people, the Bookminders system will keep them all on the same page.”

Resa is excited to start her own business.  “I like doing this kind of precision work and I like the idea of working from home.  I’ve always wanted to build a business and have people working for me.”

Resa is putting what she learned at Bootcamp to good use.  “I liked the Bootcamp.  It wasn’t overwhelming.  I am steadily incorporating everything I learned.  I’ve been using the MAD (Monthly Activity Database) to keep track of my time.  I used the estimating system to prepare estimates for my new clients—it works great.  I refer to the Standards and Procedures manual to see how things should be done.”

Resa has been pleasantly surprised that there is more demand for bookkeeping services in her small town of 20,000 people than she expected.  “I have been working with the small business development center (SBDC) and they have already sent three leads, including my first client, which is a Mexican restaurant.  I am also working on signing up an electrical contractor and an electrical parts distributor.”

Resa has enjoyed starting the business.  “I feel comfortable starting this business because I know that I have Bookminders behind me.  The Bookminders people are willing to help and answer every question I ask.  As I hire people, the Bookminders system will keep them all on the same page—down to the period.  I would highly recommend the Bookminders Licensing Program.”

Resa Remus-Stariha received her BS from Michigan Tech in 1982 and her MBA from Purdue in 1988.  Her first job was with Inland Steel as a maintenance foreman.  After several years in steel plants, she took twenty years off from her career to raise her three daughters.  She returned to work in 2009 as Athletic Director and Secretary for a catholic school.  In late 2011, she decided to start her bookkeeping business.
