THE CITY OF PITTSBURGH RECOGNIZES A LOCAL ACCOUNTING FIRM ON ITS 35TH ANNIVERSARY
Monday, May Fourth, Two Thousand & Twenty-Six
WHEREAS, founded in 1991 in Pittsburgh by Carnegie Mellon University graduate Tom Joseph, Bookminders began as a small, outsourced accounting firm with a vision to deliver high quality financial services to nonprofits and businesses while creating meaningful, flexible careers for skilled professionals; and,
WHEREAS, built on early recognition that emerging technology could transform how bookkeeping services are delivered, Bookminders pioneered an innovative model that combined flexibility, efficiency, and professional excellence before remote work became widespread; and,

WHEREAS, Bookminders has grown into a nationally recognized firm, serving clients across the country while maintaining its Pittsburgh roots and an all-women leadership team committed to excellence and opportunity; and,
WHEREAS, Bookminders has earned national and regional recognition for its leadership and workplace excellence, including DotCom Magazine’s Impact Company of the Year, the American Society of Women Accountants’ Work/Life Balance Company of the Year, the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Home-Based Business Champion designation for Pennsylvania, recognition as a seven-time Pittsburgh Business Times “100 Fastest Growing Private Companies” honoree, and consistent ranking as a Top Workplace by the Pittsburgh Post Gazette since 2022; and,
WHEREAS, for over 35 years, Bookminders has contributed to the region’s economic vitality and demonstrated that a values-driven business can grow while supporting both its employees and clients.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that I, The Honorable Corey O’Connor, Sixty-Second Mayor of the City of Pittsburgh, commend Bookminders for its 35 years of success, accounting services, and impact in the Greater Pittsburgh area and beyond.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that I do signify this incredible recognition by hereby declaring Monday, May 4, 2026 to be “Bookminders Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
