Karen Kile

After working more than 20 years as an auditor and nonprofit CFO, I wanted to continue to help organizations that make a difference in their communities.  With Bookminders, I have had the opportunity to do just that. As a Bookminders Accountant, I work with many dynamic nonprofit organizations and small businesses that provide a wide variety of services. Clients appreciate the structure that Bookminders brings to the bookkeeping function and view me as their trusted advisor.  I always have plenty of meaningful, challenging work!

One of the best parts about working at Bookminders is that management is 100% committed to flexible work.  I have immense control over my schedule, whether it is balancing the needs of home and family or being able to take time to meet up with a friend or pursue a hobby.  I see working at Bookminders as having the best of both worlds: I get to work at home on my own while also being part of a great company and visiting directly with clients. I’ve been a Bookminder for more than 10 years and the flexibility has been a key benefit throughout that time. As an active and busy “empty nester”, the benefits of the flexible schedule are just as important now as they were in the past when my kids were in school. Working at Bookminders is a great fit for whatever stage of life you might be in!

Karen received her BS in Accounting from Penn State University in 1987.  She began her career as an auditor for an international accounting firm, later joining a local CPA firm as an audit supervisor which grew into an Audit Manager position.  She then served as the Chief Financial Officer for a nonprofit organization helping youth and families for nearly 13 years before joining Bookminders in 2011. In 2023, Karen was named a Team Advisor for Bookminders. Karen plays the oboe and clarinet at her local community orchestra and volunteers with her church youth group!
