From auditor to advocate, Amy O’Connor has spent her career strengthening partnerships that help nonprofits thrive through expert guidance and genuine connection.

Amy O’Connor’s journey with Bookminders began in 2013, when she joined as an accountant serving a portfolio of nonprofit and for-profit clients. Earlier in her career, she worked in Washington, D.C., as an auditor and tax professional, with a focus on nonprofit organizations. Her time in the nation’s capital laid the groundwork for a commitment to helping mission-driven organizations strengthen financial stewardship.
As a CPA specializing in nonprofit audits, Amy developed strong technical expertise and a passion for impactful work. After relocating to the Philadelphia area, she was drawn to Bookminders’ flexible model and the opportunity to continue serving the nonprofit sector while supporting her family. Over time, Amy’s role evolved to optimize her strengths in relationship-building and strategic thinking. In 2020, she transitioned into a business development role and was promoted to Director of Business Development in 2024. Today, Amy manages referral relationships across Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, connecting new clients with the right services.
“My role gives me the opportunity to do meaningful work,” Amy shares. “I get to help nonprofits build trust in their financial systems and connect them with a team that can make a difference.” Amy’s ability to foster partnerships has helped expand Bookminders’ reach and bring financial expertise to more organizations.
Beyond stewarding potential clients, Amy is a frequent presenter and educator, leading sessions on nonprofit financial statements, ethics, and data analytics. Her approachable style and subject matter knowledge have made her a valued resource for both clients and peers.

Reflecting on her time at Bookminders, Amy says, “Helping nonprofit leaders and boards become better financial stewards has been a consistent thread throughout my career. What’s special about Bookminders is that I’ve been able to grow professionally while staying connected to causes and communities that matter to me.”
Whether she’s presenting to professionals or rolling up her sleeves for a day of service, Amy brings warmth, insight, and dedication to everything she does.
